November 4. Mama was seen sitting on a lamppost near our local Government office buildings. She had captured a squirrel for dinner and was eating it on a lamppost. While she was eating a Turkey Vulture was circling nearby watching Mama. After a few minutes Mama left her meal to escort the Turkey Vulture away from her territory without conflict. Mama then returned to complete her meal for the day. Later after sunset Mama retired to one of her favorite roosting spots to sleep for the evening. There were no signs of Papa or White Face today while we were observing Mama.

November 5. Mama had been first located about 3PM sitting on top of a local office building facade. After keeping an eye on her from a far for about 20 minutes we decided to take a walk to the East. Shortly after we started walking, Mama proceeded to come much closer to us landing on a nearby parking facility lamppost within 50 yards distance. We continued to walk East about a half mile to a local cemetery, Mama caught up to us once again. She flew low, near and around us landing in a oak tree, after a short time she proceeded to fly around some more, eventually disappearing into an area of mature oaks and pines as darkness approached. As we returned home we found Mama roosting in one of her favorite spots for the evening.

November 9. On a late afternoon walk we found Mama sitting on top of a very tall local apartment building rooftop. We observed her for about 15 minutes. Taking our eye off her for a brief few seconds, she disappeared. We watched for her to pop out from behind the many buildings in the area, but no Mama. After some time it proceeded to get darker, thinking we would not see her anymore that late afternoon we turned around to go home and there was Mama sitting on a lamppost of a local parking facility watching us. She had somehow circled behind us without us noticing her. After a few brief minutes Mama took off passing directly in front of us, she made some spectacular low flight maneuvers and captured a rat for dinner. We watched as she took the rat to a number of lampposts, eating for a while at each location before moving to the next location . We also watched in amazement as the many people leaving from work walked through the area without even noticing this spectacular red-tail hawk. Just after dusk Mama returned to one of her favorite roosting spots to spend the evening.
