JKNATUREGALLERY SITE:
January 2010: Mama and Papa continue to spend a great deal of time in each others company. As each day passes we
eagerly look for signs of nest building. The pair can be seen regularly sitting and flying together but still no signs of building
a nest. Finally at the end of the month a few twigs and branches are placed on a 6th story fire escape and both Mama and
Papa are focusing their attention on this location for a couple weeks. The nest is starting to take shape and getting larger
during this time when we noticed construction of the nest appears to have stopped and Mama and Papa are not in the
vicinity of their new nest anymore. Red-tailed hawks will build multiple nests to start a season and select one at a later date.
As the month comes to an end we didn't find a second nest,
