Urban Red-Tails: The Queens Experience
Five week old Red Tail Hawk Baby in the nest.
Our Red-Tail Hawk family started to nest for the 2007 season on March 7th. This was the first day that Mama
and Papa began taking turns sitting on their nest and not leaving it unattended. The 2008 season is upon us,

2008 Briarwood nesting season update:
As of October 16th the third fledgling is still in the area, it's two siblings seem to have left the area during the
first week of August.

Two of the Briarwood youngsters fledged the nest on June 1st. The third fledgling left the nest on June 3rd.
The first sighting of Mama & Papa's youngsters in the nest was 4/21/08 at 4:27pm.
Mama & Papa produced their first eggs of the 2008 season on either 3/4 or 3/5.

Mission:Wolf's Ambassador Wolf Program made their first visit to Queens, NY on Sunday
October 26, 2008 at the Queens County Farm Museum educating nearly 1,200 people.

Mission:Wolf's ambassador wolves Maggie and Abraham captivated their audience and had a very successful visit at
the Queens County Farm Museum educating nearly 1,200 people.

Mama and Papa have a four week old eyass in their nest, its sibling didn't survive. There are more
images of this seasons nest in the

NEWS: June 3, 2009 between 2pm and 6:30pm the eyass has fledged the nest and is doing fine. For more

April 14, 2009 we have confirmed that Mama and Papa have at least two very active hatchlings in their nest that
hatched between April 5th and 8th.
Mama spent the first night in her new nest on March 7, 2009.
We will continue to provide regular updates in the
